port day, hooray!

hi friends, today was port day! i got it installed this morning and my best friend nancy was there with me. the port will apparently become my (other) best friend, but right now it just feels strange. the procedure went smoothly, and i even convinced the doc to take a pic of the port as it was placed inside me, with his phone, and text it to me. :)

when i got into the surgical room, they had pandora playing, and i said "nice tuneage", and he asked me for requests. i said, "sure, how 'bout The National?" and so we got to listen to "I Should Live in Salt" while i slowly got sleepier and sleepier. not too shabby.

so i start chemo on friday and am ready to get this fightning going.

i've been receiving so much great energy, words, food, hugs, warmth, all of it, from so many people. nanc and di are going to be starting a sort of "what does holly need and when does she need it" kind of website, so peeps can sign up if you want to bring me food, stories, yo-yos, that sort of thing. and also a list/way to come visit me during some of the chemo sessions, if you choose.
so, if you don't think i have your email address for some reason, maybe leave it in one of the comments on this site and i'll add you to the list.

it's strange to be on the receiving side of all this. i was reminded the other day that sometimes you have to go through the woods to get to the other side. i'm hoping to find mushrooms in between...
