So it's 10pm on wednesday, and i am unfortunately in the ER Observation Area overnight. I woke up this morning and my port was super uncomfortable, super warm to the touch, and inflamed. I called my oncologist, and she told me to take my temp (99.7˚), and she said to just watch it and see if I felt better in a couple hours, and to call her back. I did, and it didn't improve, so she told me a trip to the ER was necessary to rule out infection. I'm sitting here in the OA of the ER, getting a big dose of antibiotics every 8 hours. I of course didn't bring much with me, so Emily stopped by my house and picked up some stuff I'd want for tonight. These included:
-Ned
-a pillow from my bed
-socks
-soft yoga pants
-book
-this computer i'm typing on
-iphone charger
etc...
In the morning, they'll see if the antibiotics are working, and if they are WONDERFUL. if not, i'll probably need to have to port removed.
Besides Emily, Brooke and Amy were in the neighborhood, and stopped by to say hi. There was a PBS show on the really old tv here, and we enjoyed watching a segment of a show about the incredible size of a whale's penis. Seriously.
Georgina has set up an amazingly generous website that people have been donating to, for some of my medical bills. I'm literally floored at the response we've gotten. I'm humbled and am going to write a haiku to each person who donates. Here is the link if you so care to donate: https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/66h5/holly-mcclelland-s-kicking-cancer-s-ass-fund#
And it is Wednesday, and I'm in a Wednesday Haiku Club, and today i wrote a few haikus while i was in the isolation unit in the ER:
why all the blue gloves
the IV hurts in my arm
get me outta here
then I teamed up with the nurse, Annette, and we wrote this one together:
the new nurse stuck me
and was so nice about it
long live the nurse yo
Here are some pics I snapped in the ER.
One is the cute little corner sink in my first room.
One is of the hospital food. It was gross.
I'll write more soon.
Putting earplugs in and will try to get a few winks.
